Ola Electric has been hitting the headlines lately for all the wrong reasons. Again, the brand landed in soup in Maharashtra. It has been reported that the state government has asked the RTO Department to shut down all the Ola Electric authorised dealerships as they have been operating without a valid trade certificate.

The report suggested that more than 74 Ola Electric showrooms have been operating nationwide without trade certificates. Now, the concerned authorities have taken action and decided to shut all of these non-trade-certified showrooms. The authorities also have seized over 192 scooters, the report said.

Here’s What Inspection Revealed

As per the details shared by Rushlane, revealing that the RTO has inspected around 146 Ola Electric stores in Maharashtra, out of which over 121 have failed to showcase a trade certificate. Meanwhile, the company has not reacted about the same as yet.

What is Trade certificate?

In case you are wondering what the need was for shutting the showroom, let us tell you that a showroom or a vehicle distributor must need a trade certificate from the concerned authorities to run the business. It helps the government to track vehicles sold through their dealership so that they can be registered in the state. If no such certificate, it is considered not illegal.
