T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach get serious about expanding their family.
The two discussed the dynamics and possibilities of having child. On their podcast, Amy & T.J., the couple talked about whether or not they want to have children together. Robach, 52, has two daughters, Ava, 22, and Annalise, 19, from her previous marriage to Andrew Shue.
Holmes, 48, has three children, Brianna and son Jaiden from his first marriage to Amy Ferson, and daughter Sabine, 12, from his second marriage to Marilee Fiebig.
Holmes candidly shared that he often brings up the topic of having kids, in response Robach laughs. “We have talked more lately about having kids,” Holmes said.
“We have talked more lately about the idea of even adopting a child, and usually it’s me bringing it up.”
He jokingly added that he might need to write to his own advice column to get guidance on how to approach the topic with Robach.
Robach explained her reaction and said that her laughter stems from a diagnosis she received in 2013, when she was told she was “out of the baby-making business” after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Although she entered remission in 2014, the news was devastating at the time.
“I can laugh now because that ship has sailed so long ago,” she said. “So that’s why I do chuckle, because yes, that was a painful thing to hear at 40.”
Despite her past diagnosis, Robach expressed her love and appreciation for children. “I’m saying this genuinely — my girls have now gone off — but to have Sabine around is joy,” she said.
“I absolutely, totally appreciate and actually really look forward to and love having that childlike, that sweetness around. It’s awesome.”
Both Holmes and Robach emphasised that they treat each other’s children as their own, but they also expressed a desire to have a biological child together.
“It’s not even a matter of watching you and your girls, you watching me with mine,” Holmes said. “It’s just really a matter of when you are with [someone], you can’t help but want to create your own unit.”
