Dylan O’Brien weighs in on Sabrina Carpenter’s song speculation

Dylan O’Brien recently addressed speculation that Sabrina Carpenter subtly referenced him in her new song Go Go Juice.

The song’s lyrics mention calling someone while drunk, with names like “John” and “Larry” being mentioned, as well as a reference that rhymes with “villain.”

During a September 9 appearance on Watch What Happens Live, host Andy Cohen brought up the speculation with O’Brien. “Well, I wasn’t aware,” O’Brien admitted. “Oh, and my name rhymes with villain.”

He expressed skepticism about being the person in question, adding, “Well, she’s never drunk dialed me.” O’Brien did concede that maybe Sabrina tried to call, but he didn’t pick up, joking about his poor house service and preference for FaceTime audio.

Fans have been speculating about the song’s lyrics, with some believing that the names mentioned rhyme with Sabrina’s rumoured exes.

For example, “John” could refer to Shawn Mendes, while “Larry” might be a nod to Barry Keoghan. The inclusion of “gosh” has also been interpreted as a reference to Joshua Bassett.

Despite the speculation, the Please Please Please singer has chosen to keep the inspiration behind her lyrics under wraps. “I just wouldn’t say,” she told Gayle King on CBS Mornings.

“It’s more fun to picture the person in their head than the person I picture in my head.”
