‘Matlock’ season 2 left hanging after key star’s abrupt firing

‘Matlock’ left inlurch after David Del Rio’s abrupt firing over allegations

Matlock has been left in a lurch after David Del Rio’s firing from the show.

David was accused of sexual assault by his costar Leah Lewis, who plays his sister. After an internal investigation the actor was fired and escorted off the set the same day.

Now, he’s angry that his costars Kathy Bates and Jason Ritter have cut him off despite having worked with him on season one and half of season two.

“Kathy refuses to take his calls, even though they worked 12-hour days together for more than a year, and his costar Jason Ritter, who is likely to get more screen time now that Del Rio is banished, has shut him out as well,” a mole told Radar Online.

“It really angers him his costars don’t want to hear his side of things. They’ve already convicted him,” the mole added.

As for the show, David’s expulsion leaves their plotlines incomplete after already filming half of season two. Now they will either recast his character or change the plot to explain his absence.

“David’s character, Billy Hamilton, has a very big storyline in the show’s second season,” the insider said. “They’ve already shot the first half of season 2 and the cast and crew are set to shoot the remaining episodes in December.”

“It’s going to be hell trying to tear up the scripts and explain Billy’s absence,” the source explained. “There have even been thoughts of recasting David’s character to keep the storylines intact.”

Oscar winner Kathy supports the recasting direction.

“Kathy actually replaced Annie O’Donnell as Amy Farrah Fowler’s mom on The Big Bang Theory a few years ago,” the source noted.
