Bindi Irwin shares raw health update weeks after emergency surgery

Bindi Irwin opens up about her health after emergency surgery

Bindi Irwin is “healing” after her crippling health scare.

The celebrity conservationist took to her Instagram account on Sunday, May 25 to share an emotional health update two weeks after undergoing emergency surgery due to a ruptured appendix and recurring endometriosis.

“Healing,” the TV personality began, “Thank you for your incredible words of support and kindness. The reason I share my health journey is because more girls and women desperately need answers to their undiagnosed pain. I’ve battled with endometriosis for more than 12 years. This disease is crippling and can make you feel incredibly isolated.”

The You Are a Wildlife Warrior author also posted her snaps in the candid post, showing her standing in the rain while holding an umbrella, posing beside a fence under a tree, a selfie of herself in red sunglasses, and a throwback picture from the hospital which appeared to be from her recent surgery.

Taking a stand to “raise awareness and change the narrative for women’s health,” Irwin addressed women who are facing endometriosis, saying, “I see you, your pain is real, and you deserve answers and genuine health care.”

The update came after Irwin missed an annual gala celebrating her late father, Crocodile Hunter star Steve Irwin, due to her sudden health scare.

For those unversed, “Endometriosis is a condition in which cells similar to the lining of the uterus, or endometrium, grow outside the uterus,” causing severe pain, irregular periods, and in extreme cases infertility, according to the Mayo Clinic.
